Enjoy Every Day

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

The technique for enjoying life is to notice the little things in life that happen all around us. Today’s life is filled with people rushing here and there. Perhaps all these technological advancements, such as cell phones, have made us forget about enjoying the simple things in life, by manifesting a life filled with everyday joys.

In order to get the most out of every day, you have to look after yourself. Organizing a daily schedule allows time for listening to music, taking a walk, a long hot soak in the tub, or a hobby. How can we make each day our best?

Below are some techniques that may help:

Forgive Yourself

At the end of your day say to yourself ‘I did the best I possibly could and made the most of today, tomorrow is a brand new day.’ Don’t worry about things that are still on your To Do list. Your goal isn’t really to achieve a completely empty To Do List; there’s always more to do, and doing things - not being bored - is what keeps life interesting. There’s always tomorrow and that’s all that matters.

Daily Tasks

Do your daily chores in order of importance. Add joy to these repetitive tasks by keeping your approach to them light-hearted and creative. Sing along to the radio while you are doing the dishes, dance along with the vacuum as you push it around the house. Turn mundane chores into enjoyable experiences.

Take Breaks

Whether you are at home or work, give yourself a break every now and again. If at work then get up and stretch your legs; if at home, take a stroll outside. It sounds simplistic, but one of the best things you can do during these short breaks is also the simplest: breath. Take the time to clear your mind, close your eyes, and breath slowly for 60 to 90 seconds. It can greatly reduce the stress of your days.

Spend Time Having Fun

Make it a point to do basically anything that makes you feel good. This could be reading or taking a bubble bath.

Think Positively

Look for the good in each situation and what you can learn from it, rather than looking at it in a negative way. This can be easier said than done, but it is actually the most important aspect of enjoying each day of your life. If you ca not get into a better mood on your own, look online at YouTube or Flickr or other popular sites, for movies, music, or photographs that bring a smile to your face.

One of the easist things to do to make yourself happy may feel silly, but it works. If you find yourself slumping around in a bad mood, with a frown or pout on your face, don’t wait to feel like smiling. Instead, smile and see how it makes your feel. Stand up straight and paste a big silly grin across your face. You’ll soon find that faking your body into thinking that you’re happy is enough to have your body release the hormones and blood flow to actually make you FEEL happy. With these few tricks up your sleeve, you’re well on your way to making the most of each and every day of all the days you’re lucky enough to spend on Earth.
